Uniformed Public Services Students Got an Exclusive Behind-The-Scenes Look at Royal Navy Flagship HMS Prince of Wales

Students studying Uniformed Public Services recently enjoyed an unmissable, behind-the-scenes look into naval life with an exclusive visit to the Royal Navy’s flagship aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, docked in Portsmouth.

Led by active-serving personnel, the group toured key areas across the ship, including the Bridge, the onboard medical facilities and the secure armoury. A highlight for many was the rare privilege of getting up close to the state-of-the-art F-35B Lightning stealth fighter in the hangar space. 

Students had the opportunity to roll up their sleeves for hands-on activities led by members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. These practical sessions provided our students with invaluable insight into the discipline, technical skill and core teamwork required during active service. To conclude the trip, Uniformed Public Service students discussed their career options with the Royal Navy and Royal Marines recruitment team. 

Tim Naylor, Lecturer in Uniformed Public Services, said: “It was an extraordinary experience that brought textbook learning to life and offered our students an authentic taste of what a future in the Armed Forces could look like.”
