Inclusive Learning

Our Inclusive Learning courses are designed to prepare you for a range of work opportunities or life skills in or outside of college.

Personal Progression Course

This course is designed for entry-level learners focusing on enhancing social, independence, practical, and sensory skills. It offers tailor-made learning opportunities, adapting to each individual’s needs. The course employs a co-creation approach, providing learners with choices in their activities, alongside structured learning. Successful completion can lead to progression within the course or towards specific qualifications.

Employability Course

Aimed at students with additional needs aspiring to enter the workforce, this course covers essential workplace skills and knowledge. Topics include rights in the workplace, health and safety, and teamwork, supplemented by a work experience placement. This course serves as a foundation for advancing to the Supported Internship programme or other employment opportunities.

Supported Internships

The Supported Internship programme at Peterborough College is tailored for young people aged 16-24 with additional needs who aspire to enter the workforce. It combines a bespoke study programme with three days of work experience and two days at college focusing on English, Maths, and relevant subjects.

These internships, spanning 6-12 months, are unpaid but aim to facilitate transition into paid employment. Participants receive one-to-one support from Job Coaches, who assist in matching them with appropriate employers and help develop workplace skills. Eligibility requires an active or pending Education, Health and Care Plan and a commitment towards gaining employment.

Amelia Bollons

After completing a supported internship at Peterborough College, Amelia Bollons secured paid employment with the Holiday Inn. “I get the tables ready for lunchtime and sometimes it can get really busy. I look after the coffee machines, help set the tables, and bartend too!”
