Peterborough College Journalism Student Secures Official Press Accreditation for European Le Mans Series.

Level 3 Journalism student Liv Knight is proving that age is no barrier in sports broadcasting, having secured official press accreditation for major motorsport events across the country while earning national recognition.

Liv recently attended a European Le Mans Series at Silverstone as one of the youngest accredited journalists on-site. The press pass gave her full access to the media centre, pit walks and grid walks before races, along with the opportunity to interview professional drivers in an official capacity. 

To secure her high-profile motorsport passes, Liv submitted a portfolio featuring her college multi-media journalism assignments, digital coursework and self-produced motorsport showreel. ‘Getting official accreditation gives you an extra step up and that extra reassurance that your work is good enough,’ says Liv. ‘When you’re walking around the paddock, having a press pass means teams and drivers take you seriously as a professional rather than just a fan.’

Liv credits her time at Peterborough College with giving her the legal, ethical and practical foundation needed to navigate high-pressure media environments. ‘Practical tasks like conducting street vox pops taught me how to approach people, while learning formal email etiquette was essential, especially for the European Le Mans Series, where interview questions had to be submitted for prior approval.’ Liv explains. ‘The tutors at the MJC are exceptionally supportive and encourage us to put our learning into practice outside the classroom.’ 

This follows after Liv reached the final of the Bright Young Sparks initiative, organised by Lancaster Insurance, a national competition celebrating standout automotive and motorsport talent aged 16 to 25. Liv placed second overall, after receiving multiple nominations, encouraged in part by Danny Hopkins, editor of Practical magazine, whom Liv met at an official panel motorshow event. 

While keeping her career options open, Liv continues to gain professional experience both on and off the track. Alongside her studies this year, Liv has taken on a Digital and Communications internship with Anglian Water, while continuing to build her network within the motorsport industry.
