Triple Sellout Triumph: Performing Arts Pantomime Delights Audiences of All Ages
The production of The Adventures of Dick Whittington at Peterborough College was a resounding success, boasting three sellout performances that left audiences delighted. The talented Performing Arts students showcased their skills in a brand new version of the classic tale, adding a special local twist to the Christmas season.
The colorful production captivated audiences with its lively songs, energetic dances, witty jokes, and slapstick humor. The characters, from the dastardly King Rat to the enchanting Fairy Queensgate, elicited boos and hisses or cheers and shouts from the engaged spectators. The plot unfolded as Dick and his Cat arrived in Peterborough to seek their fortune, facing the cunning schemes of King Rat and receiving assistance from the magical Fairy Queensgate. The central question lingered: Would Dick find his fortune and love with Alice, the Mayor’s daughter? The answers were revealed in a night filled with entertainment.
The must-see show was a testament to the creative talent of Kirstie Marfleet, the Malcolm Bradbury Trust bursary student from University Centre Peterborough, who specially crafted the script. University Centre Peterborough partnered with the Malcolm Bradbury Trust to offer a Malcolm Bradbury Scholarship Bursary of £7500. The bursary is available to an undergraduate living in a PE postcode at time of application. Gemma Mcdowell and Robbie Logue, Performing Arts lecturers at the College, expertly produced the performance.
