Student Spotlight: Shannon Brown Bags a Win for Bythams Community Shop

11 May 2026

At Peterborough College, we pride ourselves on giving our students the opportunity to work on real-world briefs. This month, we are celebrating the success of Year 1 Graphics student Shannon Brown, whose creative work has moved from the studio to the local community.

As part of a recent Work Experience Brief, our Graphics students were tasked with designing a new bag for Bythams Community Shop. This project allowed students to test their skills against a professional requirement, ensuring their designs were both functional and visually appealing for the shop’s customers.

After reviewing the submissions, Shannon Brown was selected as the winner. Her design captured the requirements of the brief perfectly, demonstrating the high standard of work produced by our Year 1 students.

To celebrate her achievement, Lindy Rudd and Ingrid Goode from Bythams Community Shop visited the college to present Shannon with a printed version of her bag as a thank you and a well-deserved “well done.”

Work experience briefs like this are a cornerstone of the Peterborough College experience. They allow our students to:

Build a Professional Portfolio: Shannon now has a physical, manufactured product to show future employers.

Engage with Industry: Working with clients like Lindy Rudd and Ingrid Goode teaches students about deadlines, branding and feedback.

Support Local: We love seeing our students’ talents benefiting the local villages and businesses that make our region great.

A huge congratulations to Shannon for her hard work and well-deserved win!
