Josh Ransome, who studied Music Technology at Peterborough College, is a member of a duo that recently had their mix showcased on BBC Radio 1. Collaborating alongside his brother, James, Josh is an integral part of the dynamic drum and bass duo known as SyRan, proudly affiliated with the renowned RAM Records label.
Josh’s journey into drum and bass began with a life-changing moment in a small club called Rok Box in Wigan. This ignited a passion that led him to dive into the world of dance music, fueled by albums like Pendulum’s ‘Hold Your Colour,’ Robert Miles’ ‘Dreamland,’ and Faithless’ ‘Reverence.’ This newfound enthusiasm resonated with his brother James, and together, they embarked on a sonic exploration, honing their skills in production. From tinkering with basic software to mastering FL Studio, the brothers evolved their sound, drawing from their background in piano and electronic music.
SyRan quickly became a fixture on various line-ups across the country, earning their spot at esteemed events like Jungle Juice and the Ritual Collective. Their eclectic style and proficiency caught the attention of Ram Records’ experienced A&R team, leading them to join the label’s esteemed roster. With Ram’s guidance, Josh and James are poised to contribute to the imprint’s new generation, building upon their modest beginnings and making their mark in the drum and bass world. The pair have also had their music featured on PlayStation 4 games.
