Peterborough College Student Secures Trainee Position as Veterinary Nurse After Completing Animal Management Course

26 May 2023
Kira Alexander, a dedicated and passionate student of Level 3 Animal Management at Peterborough College, is on the brink of realising her lifelong dream of becoming a Veterinary Nurse. With unwavering determination and the invaluable support of the College and lecturers, Kira has been offered a position as a full-time Trainee Veterinary Nurse, and is ready to take the next steps towards a fulfilling career in animal care.

Having always nurtured a deep love for animals, Kira made the decision to pursue her passion and enrolled in the Animal Management course at Peterborough College, part of Inspire Education Group. Through hands-on experience and comprehensive theoretical knowledge, she gained valuable insights into the intricacies of working in the animal care industry.

Inspired by her coursework and driven by a desire to make a difference in the lives of animals, Kira sought opportunities to apply her newfound skills in a professional setting. This led her to complete over 300 hours of work placement at a local veterinary practice. During this time, she proved her dedication, commitment, and aptitude for veterinary care, earning the admiration and trust of the practice’s staff.

Recognising her potential, the veterinary practice offered Kira a position as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse starting in August, immediately upon the completion of her College course. In addition to the trainee position, she has been invited back to the Veterinary Practice to assist on Wednesdays, enabling her to maintain her connection with the practice and continue contributing to the well-being of animals. This unwavering support from her chosen workplace exemplifies the trust and confidence they have in her abilities.

Reflecting on her journey thus far, Kira Alexander expresses immense gratitude towards Peterborough College and her lecturers. “By completing this course, it has opened up my eyes and allowed me to see what life would be like in an animal based career. The tutors and lecturers have all supported me in a way in which I can’t thank them enough! They have all supported me to get to where I am now, and if it wasn’t for their support and motivation to stay with my dream goals, I would have given up. I feel as though even though I might not be the brightest in the class, the subjects that I have really been interested in are where I strive. For example when I was completing my Nursing assignments, my tutor Christine, who is a Registered Veterinary Nurse, was giving me lots of information whenever I asked. Even if it wasn’t anything to do with the topic she would always try to answer any questions that I might have had and this really helped me to get an even better idea of what to expect when starting my full time position.”

As Kira embarks on her journey to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse, she is poised to make a meaningful impact on the lives of animals and their owners. Her dedication and passion for animal care will undoubtedly contribute to the welfare and well-being of countless creatures.
