Peterborough College Media Students Take the Reins as Official Film Crew for Major City-Wide Arts Project.

Four Level 3 Media students have been gaining invaluable industry-level experience after being appointed as the official film crew for a large-scale arts project taking place across Peterborough.

Students Bea, Erin, Cece and Robbie have been working alongside professional videographer Joe Almond and international filmmaker Rafael Ortega to document a series of community events at various venues across the city.

Their filming schedule has seen them capturing a range of dynamic cultural activities, including a collective poem written by local residents, a vibrant dance procession and a community celebration featuring food and live music from a Nepalese band. The extensive footage gathered by the students will be edited into an upcoming feature-length documentary about the project.

The lead artist José García Oliva praised their contribution:

“The students were absolute professionals and brought so much energy and technical skill to the project. It was a joy to have them as part of our team, and they truly went above and beyond.”

The project has offered the students a rare opportunity to showcase their technical capabilities on a major local initiative while working alongside seasoned creative professionals.
