Peterborough College Game Design Students Explore the Future of Tech at ARU Peterborough Showcase

27 April 2026

Games Design students recently visited the Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) Peterborough campus for an inside look at the next level of the gaming and tech industry.

Invited as guests to the university’s end-of-year showcase, the students spent the day exploring high-level projects from Computing, Gaming and Engineering departments, gaining valuable insight into the transition from college-level design to university innovation.

The visit began with a guided tour of the campus, highlighted by a session in the university’s immersive volume room. This gave the college students a chance to step inside room-scale projects, seeing firsthand how the technical concepts they study in the classroom translate into large-scale, interactive environments.

The day continued to the showcase, where the Game Design students met with final-year university students to discuss their work and the reality of the degree experience. The group explored a wide range of impressive specialisations, including a terrifying VR horror game, a galactic exploration title powered by procedural generation, and technical demonstrations of motion-captured characters and advanced weapon mechanics.

Beyond the screens, the students also sat in on a final-year group presentation that broke down the entire game development process. This session was particularly impactful, as it showed the students how the university course builds on individual strengths and provides the confidence to navigate the unique challenges of the indie game development world.
