Motor Vehicle Apprentice, Sydney Gleeson-Greeves, nominated for another award!
Sydney Gleeson-Greeves has been nominated for another prestigious industry award, following her impressive third-place finish in the national Halfords Apprentice of the Year competition earlier this year.
Sydney, who studies at Peterborough College while completing her apprenticeship at Halfords, continues to build an outstanding reputation within the automotive industry. Her latest nomination recognises her technical skill, dedication, and enthusiasm for the trade, qualities that have made her stand out among apprentices nationwide.
Sydney reflected on her nomination:
“It makes me very happy because to be a female mechanic, I have struggled and from day one I’ve had people constantly tell me I’m not good enough and I won’t make it, so to have my company recognise me so many times is quite surreal to me.”
Speaking about how the course has helped her, Sydney said, “To be honest, I never wanted to be a mechanic, I never had an interest in cars, but coming to college and learning everything about them and the way the college has helped me has made me fall in love with cars and realise that it’s something I want to do.”
Peterborough College’s apprenticeship programmes combine hands-on training with employer partnerships to give students the experience and skills needed to succeed in their chosen careers. Sydney’s continued recognition highlights the high standard of teaching and employer collaboration that the College provides.
Congratulations to Sydney on another fantastic nomination. We look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next!
