Media Students Set to Earn First Film Credit in Filmmaking Workshop

15 October 2026

Level 2 Media students have taken a major step forward in their professional careers, transforming a loose script into a completed short film entitled ‘The Empty Chair’ in just two hours!

Led by local filmmaker Frank Nosa, director of Quiet Place Peterborough, alongside Hana Sayeed from Peterborough Cultural Alliance, the workshop was designed to give the Level 2 cohort immediate, real-world experience in fast-paced production. The workshop challenged students to move seamlessly from initial concept to final slate.

Frank Nosa said: “Today’s storytelling workshop at the Media and Journalism Centre, in the heart of Peterborough, was extra special…There’s something beautiful about taking my stories to the younger generation, sharing experiences and inspiring young people to discover the power of their own voices.”

The Empty Chair tells the story of a young girl trying to muster the courage to cross a classroom and connect with someone new. The footage captured during the session is now moving into post-production. Once edited, The Empty Chair will form part of a broader anthology project showcasing local short films.

To add to an incredible experience for our students, all those who participated will receive their very first official IMDb credit for their work in the production.

The completed short film anthology will be showcased as part of upcoming community film events.
