Creative Inspiration: Peterborough College Visits UCP
Students from Peterborough College’s Graphic Design and Art and Design courses recently visited the UCP Creative Showcase to gain professional insight ahead of their own showcase in May.
The visit offered a valuable look at the creative profession from college to university levels, providing students with a clear benchmark for the quality and presentation expected in a professional gallery setting.
David Smith, Assistant Head of Faculty for Art and Design, praised the exhibition and the growth of the artists involved, “We really enjoyed our visit to view the wonderful and exciting work at UCP. The learners have clearly worked hard and created a diverse range of pieces to a very high standard”
For students, the trip was more than just viewing art; it was a practical lesson in curation and communication. Level 3 Art and Design student, Shan Ali, said: “The experience was inspirational; it helped me know how to style my piece and understand how to convey my message within the space.”
As the students return to their class to finalise their projects for the upcoming May exhibition, the visit to UCP has provided them with the perspective needed to transition from students to emerging professionals in the creative industry.
