Security (SIA) Course

This course is tailored for individuals new to the security industry, offering practical training and assessments across a variety of security roles.

Course Details

Duration: 4 Weeks
Location: JOBSMART
Start Date: Monthly (Please enquire for the next start date)
Fee: Free for the unemployed

Entry Requirements

You will require an English assessment at Entry Level 3 or above, appropriate ID (photo and non-photo) and a DBS check with no issues raised. There is a Physical Intervention module so some people with health conditions may be signposted to the Security Officer qualification instead.

Qualifications Earned

Upon successful completion, participants will receive the following key qualifications:

NCFE Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events (Level 2)
HABC Emergency First Aid at Work (Level 3)
HABC Award in Working as a Door Supervisor (Level 2)
Award in Working as a Security Officer (Level 2)
Award in Working as a CCTV Operator (Level 2)

Smart Start Path: Getting Into Security

Designed for individuals with prior criminal convictions, this programme aims to open pathways into the security sector. The course focuses on providing the foundational skills required for stewarding roles, with a view to progress towards professional security qualifications.

Entry Requirements

You will require an English assessment at Entry Level 3 or above.

A risk assessment and contact with probation services are part of the enrolment process. Successful candidates will receive a guaranteed interview with a stewarding company.

Qualifications included:

HABC Award in Conflict Management (Level 2)
NCFE Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events (Level 2)
NCFE Certificate in Equality and Diversity (Level 2)
HABC Emergency First Aid at Work (Level 3)

Faisal Mokhammad-Aiup, originally a refugee from Afghanistan and later Ukraine, overcame significant challenges to win both the Rising Above Adversity Award and FE Student of the Year Award. After running a successful mobile phone business in Ukraine, Faisal arrived in the UK in 2022 and joined Jobsmart’s Security programme. Despite initial language barriers, his determination led to successful completion of the course and earning his Door Supervisor licence. Faisal is now thriving in retail security, grateful for the support he received and actively sharing his inspiring journey with others.
