ESOL Skills for Life (Speaking and Listening) Award – Entry Level
This course is designed for learners who wish to gain a recognised ESOL qualification in speaking and listening. The course requires a basic level of spoken English and involves an ESOL assessment to establish your level. On successful completion, you will achieve an Edexcel ESOL qualification at Entry Level 1, 2, or 3. Assessment includes an oral test, which will be video recorded.

ESOL Skills for Life (Writing and/or Reading) Award – Entry Level
This course focuses on enhancing your writing and/or reading skills in English. It is ideal for learners who have some basic spoken English and involves an initial ESOL assessment to determine your level. The course leads to improved literacy skills, with assessment through a paper-based test.
Duration: 16 Weeks

ESOL Skills for Work
This is a short course which focuses on equiping ESOL learners with the essential language and workplace skills needed for employment in the UK. The learners will explore key sectors of employment, develop core language skills, learn about work routines and understand signs and symbols encountered in a professional environment.

ESOL Living in the UK
This is a short course which focuses on building spoken English skills and teaches learners about the UK and British culture. This course will introduce some of the topics included within the ‘Life in the UK’ test and develop the learners confidence around the topics of citizenship and culture.

Faisal Mokhammad-Aiup, originally a refugee from Afghanistan and later Ukraine, overcame significant challenges to win both the Rising Above Adversity Award and FE Student of the Year Award. After running a successful mobile phone business in Ukraine, Faisal arrived in the UK in 2022 and joined Jobsmart’s Security programme. Despite initial language barriers, his determination led to successful completion of the course and earning his Door Supervisor licence. Faisal is now thriving in retail security, grateful for the support he received and actively sharing his inspiring journey with others.
