Whatever the size or capability of your business, taking students on work experience or as temporary staff can pay dividends to both the business and the young person.  Students bring many new qualities to your organisation and can offer fresh ideas or develop projects that the company just hasn’t had time to carry out – and you never know, you may find a potential employee without the expensive cost of recruitment.
You could enable a 16-18 year old get their future off the ground and train a potential employee, by supporting this national scheme. Â If you are able to offer an enthusiastic young person a work placement, Peterborough College will develop their English and maths, give them work preparation and training and support them all the way.
You could support a 16-25 year old with learning difficulties and/or disabilities gain valuable skills and experience to progress into paid employment. Our dedicated Supported Employment Advisors spend a lot of time matching students to employers based on their interests, skills and abilities. Interns will work, unpaid, for up to a year, whilst developing their English and Maths skills at College. You will have support from our dedicated team, who will deliver on-the-job coaching, monitor an individual’s progress and support your business needs. As supported internships are bespoke to each student and employer we can be flexible around you. You will discover skills that don’t exist in normal talent pools and could cut recruitment costs by using our extensive job-matching service.
To ensure that our curriculum delivers the knowledge and skills required for each industry sector, we hold regular meetings that bring together teaching staff and relevant businesses. Â We also welcome industry specialist guest speakers who are able to share their knowledge and experience to employees of the future.
