What can this course lead to?

On successful completion of this course, with GCSE English and maths at grades 4/C or above, you can progress on to a T Level Early Years Educator, Apprenticeship or other technical qualification at Level 2.

Who is it for?

This NCFE CACHE Level 2 course is for you if you are interested in caring for children and wish to pursue a career within the childcare industry.

This course is great for building your knowledge and skills within the early years industry giving you a great foundation to progress your career further.

What is covered?

This course will introduce you to many fascinating early years topics including; child development and how to support it, the role and responsibilities of a Childcare Practitioner and exploring legistlation.

You will also learn about equality, diversity and inclusive practice in an early years setting. You will be required throughout this course to spend two days a week (a minimum of 50 hours in total) in a variety of childcare settings with children aged 0 - 8 years.

Your course will consist of a mandatory work placement with an employer to develop he practical and technical skills required for the occupation. We will support you in finding relevant work placements, but you must demonstrate a willingness to travel to these placements. These will last a minimum of 250 hours. Employers can offer work expeirence as a block, on a day-release basis, or as a combination of the two. You will also require a currrent Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enhances disclosure certificate, which the College will support you to apply for.

4 GCSEs at grades 3/D including English Language and Maths. You will also need a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate with no grounds that you are professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement. The College manages applications for a DBS and we will contact you with the forms and guidance you require to complete this before you are due to start your course.
