Sport Studies Development Centres (Football, Rugby, Netball or Basketball) Level 3

The broad range of topics studied in this course will give you the choice to study many other sports pathways at university such as sports coaching or sports development. The Development Centre is expertly managed by a team of highly qualified professionals and will provide you with visible pathways into professional and semi–professional football, rugby, basketball, netball or coaching. The skills you’ll develop on this course also open up a wide range of career opportunities in sport such as: Health and fitness, High level sports coaching and Sports research Sports therapy.

You’ll get the opportunitiy to progress academically and gain valuable employment skills, whilst training with a number of qualified coaches at the same time.

At Peterborough College, we offer two level 2 pathways: Sports Studies, or via a Development Centre (football, netbally, rugby or basketball). Sport Studies will give you the opportunity to progress academically and help you gain those vaulable skills needed to succeed in the sport and leisure industry.

The Development Centre is a two–year programme including top class coaching from a team of qualified coaches as well as the opportunity to gain a level 3 qualification in sport studies.

As part of the programme you will be participating in weekly games in the Association of Colleges league, regional tournaments and National Cup competitions and in addition you'll also coach young children and gain an appropriate coaching qualification.

Topics covered on the course will include:

• Principles of anatomy and physiology in sport,
• Fitness training and programming
• Coaching, sports injuries and sports massage.
