On successful completion of this introductory course you will gain a great idea of what is involved in performing arts and music. You can use it to move up to courses such as Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Performing Arts or Skills for Music & Music Technology, or other level 2 qualifications.

What is covered?
Throughout this one year course you will study a variety of music and performing arts skills as well as an introduction to music technology units. These include working in the performing arts, performance skills, acting, dance and music skills, performance workshops and employability skills.

2 GCSEs at grade 2/E or above including English or maths and the ability to demonstrate an interest in the subject. You will need to attend an interview and audition before starting this course.
Through practical work, presentation (written and performance) and continuous assessment throughout the year.
As part of the course you will need to be available for select evening rehearsals and performances (dates are provided well in advance) and you will require the department’s standard performance uniform (to be discussed at your interview).
You will also need a set of headphones and a USB stick.
