On successful completion of this course you could progress to to study at degree level in subjects such as performing arts. You may also wish to study theatre at a specialist performing arts academy or theatre school such as Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), Goldsmiths College (University of London) or Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The course can also lead to work in the theatre industry as a performer, administrator or practitioner. Careers in arts development, community theatre or arts youth work are also possible. Do you dream of a career on stage? If you enjoy creative theatre and want to develop the skills to enable you to become a confident, enthusiastic and inspired performer, then this is the course for you! You will be prepared to work hard and put in long hours for rehearsals in the pursuit of excellence, both as an individual and as part of a performance team. Students are encouraged to participate in live performances, national and international competitions, work as part of Peterborough College’s Arts Theatre Company and take part in the National Theatre’s Connections.
What is covered?
Throughout the course you’ll study topics including: Developing skills and techniques for live performance Acting styles Physical theatre techniques Singing techniques Final live performance to an audience. In your second year you will be involved in a performance project and form a theatre company, which is structured and managed by the students. Your group will be responsible for the whole process of selecting, producing, marketing and performing a piece of theatre within a limited budget.

5 GCSEs at grade 4/C including English. You will need to attend an interview and audition before starting this course.
You will complete a number of assignments, including assessed live performances, written and practical projects.
