Each Access course and pathway is specifically designed with university progression in mind, and tutors will guide you through the HE application process.

Who is it for?
If you are a mature student with the ambition to go to university but lack the level 3 qualifications, an Access to Higher Education course is a fantastic solution.
The Access to Higher Education course is a 1-year full-time course specifically for motivated individuals aged 19 and over who wish to go on to study a degree, progress in their career, or simply extend their knowledge after being out of formal education for some time.
This online course is specifically for highly motivated and autonomous learners who are not able to access learning during regular college hours. You must have excellent IT skills, and hold substantial nursing/healthcare work experience that will support your application to University. Your suitability for the course will be assessed during a screening assessment when you apply for the course.
What is covered?
You will study a range of subjects at Level 3 in Biololgy, Sociology and Psychology. You will also be trained in study skills to help you make the most of your time on the course and to become an effective undergraduate at university.
You are not required to come into college for any activities, however you are expected to spend approximately 12-15 hours per week completing work in your own time. You will have 24/7 access to an online learning platform where all learning materials are provided for you to work through, and where all your assessments are uploaded.

For entry onto the Access to Higher Education Nursing course applicantsmust hold a: Level 2 Biology qualification (such as GCSE Science/Biology at grade A*/9 – C/4, BTEC Level 2 in Applied Science at Merit or Pre-Access Certificate with biology content) and GCSE English and Maths at grade A*/9 – C/4.
Foreign equivalents and Functional Skills Level 2 can be considered on a case by case basis.
There is no live delivery of lessons or content, you are expected to learn independently using the provided resources and your own research. There is a schedule of learning where you need to upload your assessments by a set date. There is opportunity for tutor support via email, weekly online support drop-ins, and individual tutorials to help you and monitor your progress.
You will be assessed through a range of coursework tasks, completed on computer and submitted to the online platform.
You will need to have access to a computer with internet connection to complete work on, and to pay for your UCAS application in order to apply to University.

There is no work experience on this course, but you will complete your university application alongside your studies and may need to attend open days/interviews.
