Who is it for?
This entry level course will give you a great idea of what is involved in art, design, and elements of digital creativity. You can use it to move up to courses such as Level 1 Art and Design or other level 1 qualifications providing you pass the Entry level course, and meet the entry requirements around English and Maths.
What is covered?
Students will cover a variety of topics whilst studying on this course.
This will include topics such as:
- Developing Painting and Drawing
- Clothing Design
- Digital Graphics
- Introduction to Mixed Media in 2D
- Creative Craft Skills
- Needle/Textile Crafts
- Write to Communicate
- Art & Design: A Personal Project

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 1/F or above including English and Maths are needed (If English and Maths GCSEs are not present then Functional Skills Entry 2 Passes are acceptable).
You will also have the ability to demonstrate an interest in the subject. Should entry requirements not be met we are open to review an applicant’s grades /achievements on an individual basis and take into account creative ability.
This course will be delivered face to face within a classroom environment only.
Students will be assessed on this course by coursework across all units and topics. There will not be any exams taking place throughout this course.
There may be costs involved for lockers and sketch books, gallery and exhibition trips. All students should have a basic art kit which they can add to throughout the year. A list of recommended materials and equipment will be provided as a guide.
There will be an expectation for students to undergo 18 hours of work related learning throughout this course.
