Who is it for?
This qualification has been designed for learners who wish to achieve a level 1 media qualification in preparation for future study.
This qualification is not designed to lead directly to employment but will maximise opportunities for a learner’s progression to Level 2 qualifications in a related subject, when combined with English and maths.
What is covered?
You will focus on several elements of media production including:
- Audio recording
- How to produce adverts
- Layout design for a digital product
The course help you progress through lessons on personal organisation and creating a Personal Progression Plan.
These combined with preparation for work experience, tutorial sessions and English and maths should support you progressing the following year onto a Level 2 Media or IT course.

English at Grade 1 or above (although candidates without this may still be considered if they can demonstrate a real interest in the subject).
All assessments are project based, and you will be given a range of options to best suite your learning need.

Starting on the week commencing the 1st September, this is a full time course consisting of at least 3 days in college and then additional virtual sessions needing to be completed.
Full-time courses are fully funded for 16 to 18-year-olds. For age 19+, various funding options are available.
