This introductory course will give you a great idea of what is involved in art and design, and you can use it to move up to courses such as Level 2 Art and Design or other level 2 qualifications providing you pass the Level 1 Art and Design course, and meet the entry requirements around English and Maths.

What is covered?
This course will enable you to explore your skills through learning various aspects of art and design through the use of materials and techniques, exploring 2D and 3D visual language, digital techniques and basic design principles. You will work in a stimulating and exciting environment with our experienced and supportive tutors.

4 GCSEs at grade 2/E or above including English and Maths (or English and Maths at L1) and the ability to demonstrate an interest in the subject. Should entry requirements not be met we are open to review an applicant’s grades/achievements on an individual basis and take into account creative ability.
Assignments – Course work based assessments, across practical, and some digital art, processes.
There may be costs involved for lockers and sketch books, gallery and exhibition trips. All learners should have a basic art kit which they can add to throughout the year. A list of recommended materials and equipment will be provided as a guide.
