The completion of this course, along with the achievement of functional skills at level 2, will enable you to progress onto Animal Management Level 3. Achieving a Merit level for this level 2 programme would be an advantage when looking to progress to the Level 3 in Animal Management.
If you’re considering one of the many careers working with animals then this course may be for you. This course will enable you to build on your confidence, knowledge and practical skills whilst working with the animals both onsite at college and during completion of your industry work placement within the animal sector with an external employer.
During this course you will work with a wide range of animals, including domestic animals, exotic animals and livestock. You will cover an exciting range of subjects allowing you to build on both your knowledge and confidence working with animals.

You will develop employability and team work skills throughout your study and will need to undertake the mandatory element of 75 hours of work experience in an external work placement.
4 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above and must include English, maths and science.
Your tutor will assess you through written assignments, demonstration of practical work skills and externally set exams. Your tutor will also provide you with feedback to develop your skills and knowledge to industry standards.
You will be required to buy protective clothing such as safety boots, work clothes and water proof outdoor clothing. Stationery such as pens, pencils, a writing pad and folder will also be essential. Visits to relevant animal organisations will be arranged throughout your course, the total cost for entry fees and transport will be required to be paid in advance.
