Peterborough College’s RAF Air and Defence College provides employer-led, career focused education and technical training for 16 to 19 year olds. Our employer supporters will work closely with us to provide this unique and innovative model, which is designed to create secure career paths in the RAF, Aerospace and Catering Industries.
The Programme
Our students will get involved with industry-set projects, co-designed by employers – equipping them to enter their career of choice ahead of the game and ready to progress. Air and Defence College students will spend a significant proportion of time experiencing industry environments first-hand through an extensive programme of work experience. Industry experts will join tutors at College to pass on their knowledge and expertise. Core academic study areas like maths, English and science will be contextualised to the specialism of the College. Digital skills development will be a major priority.

Once I finish my course I hope to become a Mechanical Engineer. My lecturer, Gary Lewis, has supported me massively in my RAF journey – from improving my fitness to organising my Defence Aptitude Assessment (DAA) and how to prepare for it. My other Engineering lecturers have really helped me if I’ve had any concerns about the work and I’m sure that will really help me reach my career goals!
