Royal Navy Visit Inspires Students with Real-World Career Insight
The Royal Navy Attract Team visited Peterborough College, part of Inspire Education Group, to give students across all Uniformed Public Service and Air and Defence courses a hands-on insight into careers within the Royal Navy and the wider Armed Forces.
Their talks and activities directly support our curriculum by linking learning to real-world operational roles, teamwork, leadership, communication, and problem-solving.
The visit helped students understand how their classroom skills translate into professional expectations, while also developing their confidence, employability, and awareness of Royal Navy career options. This also leads to other opportunities, such as the visit to HMS Queen Elizabeth last year for a group of students.
Level 3 Uniformed Service student, Reece, said, “The session has been fun, accommodating, educational and informative. It has provided a broad insight into the uniformed services and the options available for my future.”
This engagement allows students to hear directly from serving Royal Navy personnel, a career path that many do not choose due to the restricted naval presence in Peterborough. Students were also able to ask questions. Sessions like this broaden students’ understanding of entry requirements, training, lifestyle, and career progression within the Armed Forces.
The college is committed to offering experiences that extend beyond the classroom and support meaningful career exploration, and we look forward to continuing this positive relationship with the Royal Navy.
