Photography Students at Peterborough College Selected for 2026 ‘We Love Peterborough’ Calendar

10 November 2025

Two Level 3 Photography students from Peterborough College have had their work selected to feature in the popular ‘We Love Peterborough’ calendar, celebrating the city’s landmarks and local talent.

Cami Wyre and Tom Mapplebeck faced some tough competition for the annual ‘We Love Peterborough’ calendar, which attracts high-quality entries from local photographers, either experienced or part of a passion project. As two of the youngest entrants, having their work chosen on a much-loved city calendar is a real testament to their talent, creativity and hard work.

Level 3 Photography

Cami Wyer

Cami’s image. A striking photograph of a stained-glass window has been given for March. This was taken early in her course as she began to explore her personal style. Cami said,“ I took the photo last year when I was first starting Photography and learning how to use the camera. I’ve discovered that I really like darker, moodier imagery. I was originally there to take photos of a person in front of the stained glass, but when I saw that window, I knew I had to capture it. I also love that I could focus just on the window itself.”

Cami, who is planning to progress to Lincoln University to study BA (hons) Photography, credits the course tutors for helping her grow in confidence and creativity, “Our tutors encourage us to follow photographers and artists, be inspired by their work and then develop our own skills and styles. They give us a strong foundation at the start of the year and then allow us the freedom to adapt and push our creativity.”

Level 3 Photography

Tom Mapplebeck

Tom’s selected photograph has been selected for November and showcases Peterborough’s Town Bridge, framed by vivid autumnal colours. Tom explained, “I really enjoyed highlighting colour in my photography and making details stand out more so people know what the clear subject is in my photographs, I wanted to get a picture of town bridge as it is a nice landmark and the scenery in the background looked very picturesque with its orange autumnal colours”

Speaking on why entering the competition was an important step for him: “I thought, why not have a go and see if I had a chance of having my work published? I was over the moon when I found out I’d won. It’s a huge milestone in my photography because it shows people like my work.”

This achievement highlights the high standard of work produced by Photography students at Peterborough College and the creative support offered by staff and facilities at the Media and Journalism Centre.
