Peterborough College T Level Students Explore Mill Yard Development in Cambridge
T Level Construction students from Peterborough College recently stepped out of the classroom and onto a live site at the Mill Yard development in Cambridge.
Organised by Emma Hill, Head of Faculty for Construction, in collaboration with Morgan Sindall, the visit was timed to coincide with Construction Skills Week. The session specifically supported students on the Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction pathway, providing a vital link between academic theory and real-world application.
During the visit to the Mill Yard project, students were given a comprehensive look at the modern construction landscape, including:
Live Construction Processes: Observing the day-to-day operations of a major development.
Modern Design Methods: Seeing how complex designs are translated into physical structures.
Industry Insights: Gaining a first-hand understanding of professional standards and practices.
A key element of the visit was the exposure to potential industry placement opportunities. As placements are a core component of the T Level qualification, this interaction with Morgan Sindall helps students build the professional foundations needed for their future careers.
