Peterborough College T Level Students Develop Winning Solutions to Support the NHS
Students from Peterborough College, part of Inspire Education Group (IEG), have been recognised for developing innovative solutions designed to support the future of the NHS, after winning top honours in a regional health challenge.
Two groups of Peterborough College T Level Health students secured first place in their categories in the Lincolnshire NHS Health Challenge, delivered by the Education & Talent Team at Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (Lincolnshire NHS Talent Academy) in collaboration with the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology.
The challenge invited Year 12 and Year 13 students from across the county to respond to key transformation priorities within the NHS 10-Year Plan — Hospital to Community, Analogue to Digital, and Sickness to Prevention — encouraging fresh thinking to help shape a more sustainable, efficient and patient-centred health service.
In the Hospital to Community category, second-year T Level Adult Nursing students Liv Turner, Hollie Markillie and Mia Ward developed “Homekind”, an app designed to support individuals as they transition from hospital to home. Their solution focuses on helping people maintain independence and control their own health and care—a critical shift in how services are delivered across the NHS.
In the Analogue to Digital category, students Tomas Ray, Allwell Oigiangbe, Aisha Idowu, and Serena Steven-Orhiunu created “Easy Obs”, a digital solution designed to reduce time pressures on nurses, improve efficiency, and enhance patient safety. The concept reflects the NHS’s ambition to modernise systems and free up clinical time for patient care.
As category winners, both teams will now participate in further discussions with the Lincolnshire NHS Talent Academy to explore how their ideas can be developed into real-world solutions, directly contributing to the future of healthcare delivery.
The initiative highlights the vital role of collaboration between education and healthcare partners in developing the next generation of talent. By engaging students in real NHS challenges, Peterborough College, part of Inspire Education Group, is not only celebrating student success but actively contributing to the long-term sustainability of the NHS workforce.
Through partnerships like this, students gain meaningful, industry-relevant experience, while employers benefit from fresh perspectives and innovative thinking — creating shared value and supporting the future of care for communities.
