Peterborough College Supported Internship Students "Flip the Script" at Innovative Reverse Job Fair
Supported Internship students from Peterborough College took centre stage at the 2026 Supported Internship Event, designed to connect students with employers.
Moving away from the standard career fair format, the Supported Internship department hosted a “Reverse Job Fair” where students managed their own booths, showcasing their skills, career aspirations, and hands-on talents to a prestigious group of local and national employers.
The event provided a vital platform for supported interns to engage directly with industry leaders. Representatives from Amazon, the NHS, Peterborough City Council, David Lloyd, Grafham Water Centre, Clancy, Carter Jonas and many more were in attendance to meet the next generation of talent.
This innovative format allowed employers to move between students, where they observed interns performing real-world tasks and activities reflective of job responsibilities. This hands-on approach gave businesses a deeper understanding of each student’s potential fit within their organisation, looking far beyond what a traditional CV could reveal.
For the participating employers, the event offered more than just recruitment; it was a chance to build brand awareness among local youth and strengthen their commitment to workplace diversity. The event helped bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that these talented students are ready to make a meaningful impact from day one of their internships.
Supported Internships at Peterborough College are work-based study programmes designed to support young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) into paid employment. The programme combines college-based learning with substantial workplace experience, supported by expert Job Coaches. The success of this event highlights the vital role that local businesses play in creating inclusive workforces and providing life-changing opportunities for young people across the city.
