Peterborough College Students Begin Landmark T-Level Placement at PJ Care
Peterborough College is proud to announce its largest ever T-Level placement partnership with PJ Care, marking a significant step forward in specialist vocational training.
Recently, 11 students from Inspire Education Group (IEG) transitioned from the classroom to the front lines of specialist neurological care. The launch represents PJ Care’s biggest T-Level cohort to date, offering our students an immersive introduction to a highly specialised field of healthcare.
The first week of the placement provided a rich and varied experience, ensuring students understand the complexity of neurological care from every angle. Far beyond theoretical study, the students engaged in:
Clinical Exposure: Training in dementia care, mental capacity and life support.
Specialist Support: Meetings with the psychology team to learn about the brain and the IT team to understand digital care-planning systems.
Nutrition & Safety: Collaborating with the catering team to learn about food and IDDSI levels.
Community & Inclusion: Exploring the importance of social inclusion and participating in the weekly resident disco.
A core element of this partnership is developing the “soft skills” essential to the care sector. By moving from clinical training to social activities like the resident disco, students have been able to build genuine connections with those they are supporting.
Alexander Balicki, Head of Training for PJ Care said “Watching these students grow in confidence and connection, especially as they moved from the classroom to the dance floor at our weekly resident disco, has been inspiring. The empathy, energy and humility they’ve shown reflect the kind of future professionals our sector needs. T-level programmes are incredibly important for employers, something we feel strongly about supporting to encourage more young people into our sector.”
This collaboration highlights the vital role T-Level programs play in bridging the gap between education and the workplace. By investing in these students, PJ Care and Peterborough College are helping to develop the next generation of healthcare professionals.
