Peterborough College student builds fully–functional virtual campus on Roblox
Lewis Hawkes, Level 3 Media student, has created an impressive virtual version of the campus, complete with interactive facilities and working technology.
The project, which Lewis designed and built himself, began during a previous course and has since developed into a highly detailed simulation of college life. He has recreated several recognisable areas of the campus, from the main entrance and the Costa, to the Media and Journalism Centre (MJC) campus, complete with a working TV Studio.
His aim has been to provide an authentic experience for prospective students who may want to explore the College before attending an open event. By basing each space on real facilities, he hopes users will be able to gain a clearer understanding of what the campus has to offer and what daily life could look like here.
The project has already received strong encouragement, with many asking him to complete the entire building. Lewis has also gone to great lengths to ensure accuracy, obtaining permissions to use specialist digital models for operating systems such as tills and scanners, further enhancing the realism of the simulation.
His attention to detail and passion for realistic game environments have helped to showcase Peterborough College in a new and innovative way, and his project stands as a unique example of how digital platforms can be used to re-imagine educational spaces.
