This National Manufacturing Day, Peterborough College are highlighting the importance of the sector to the economy and showcasing the skills and opportunities it offers to young people.

Zane Mattick
Among those benefitting from the College’s strong industry links is Zane Mattick, who is developing his career at Marlor Tooling Ltd. Since starting his journey in manufacturing, Zane has learned to operate advanced CNC machines and develop vital problem-solving and teamwork skills.
He said:
“The manufacturing industry is incredibly vital to all aspects of life, especially in this era of constant breakthroughs in technology and new and improved items. My confidence has massively increased due to the day to day exposure of different tasks and it has improved my efficiency at work.”

The College is also proud of the achievements of its alumni, such as Dan Mucklin, now Engineering Manager at Marlor Tooling. Reflecting on his own progression, he said:
“I have recognised my knowledge and versatility, from my apprenticeship, have become invaluable across many sectors of the company and has most certainly paved the way for my current success as a manager, giving me the resources to drive certain developments enabling me to reach the heights of managing situations in this current day.”
