Peterborough College Dance Students Bring Pokémon Magic to Peterborough City Hospital for Play Week
Dance students from Peterborough College have once again brought smiles to the faces of young patients at Peterborough City Hospital’s Children’s Ward, performing a lively Pokémon-themed routine as part of the hospital’s annual Play Week celebrations.

Now in its fifth consecutive year, this special collaboration between Peterborough College and NHS Peterborough City Hospital continues to showcase the power of community engagement through the arts. The performance aimed to uplift children and families spending time in the hospital, providing a moment of joy and connection through dance.
Gem and Hayley, Dance Lecturers at Peterborough College, expressed their pride in the students’ ongoing commitment to community outreach:
“We’re incredibly proud of our Level 3 dancers, who once again performed at NHS Peterborough City Hospital’s Children’s Ward for Play Week. This marks our fifth year taking part in this special community event.
Community outreach is such an essential part of our dancers’ development. Performing in different circumstances and venues, especially for young children in hospitals, helps our students grow in confidence, adaptability and empathy. It’s a truly valuable experience that reminds them of the power of dance to uplift and connect people in all walks of life.”
The college’s Performing Arts department has a strong tradition of community involvement, with students regularly taking part in local events, school visits, and charity performances. Opportunities like Play Week not only enhance students’ performance skills but also encourage them to understand the positive impact the arts can have beyond the stage.
