IEG and PECT Partner to Host Sustainability Workshop at Centre for Green Technology

24 November 2025

Inspire Education Group (IEG) and PECT partnered to deliver a highly engaging sustainability workshop designed to strengthen community participation in local climate and energy projects.

The session took place at IEG’s recently launched Centre for Green Technology — the region’s flagship hub for green skills, education and low-carbon innovation.

Funded by Innovate UK, the workshop was part of the FutureNow project, led by Peterborough City Council, which aims to help residents and organisations move to more sustainable, affordable lifestyles; improve energy efficiency; and promote local climate projects.

The session brought together IEG’s sustainability-minded staff to explore what motivates people to get involved in sustainability initiatives, the barriers that can prevent participation, and the practical methods that help inspire long-term, meaningful change. It also included an introduction to climate and energy action and highlighted Peterborough City Council and PECT’s new online platform ‘FutureNow’, designed to offer residents and local businesses accessible, straightforward energy and sustainable travel advice.

For PECT, the workshop forms part of its continued mission to empower local people to make sustainable choices and increase participation in climate-positive action across the city.

This partnership directly supports IEG’s mission to equip the region’s future workforce with the skills, awareness and confidence needed for a low-carbon economy. By bringing this expertise into the CGT and enabling staff to deepen their own sustainability knowledge, we can ensure that what is learned through sessions like this is shared with the students we teach every day.

This not only strengthens IEG’s contribution to the city’s green ambitions but also helps embed real-world insight and community-driven understanding into the learning experience for the workforce of tomorrow.

Wayne Granger, Health & Safety Officer and Member of the Green Group at Inspire Education Group, said:

“Hosting this workshop at the Centre for Green Technology highlights our ongoing commitment to supporting a more sustainable future for Peterborough. Bringing together residents, partners and local organisations is vital in encouraging climate awareness, reducing barriers to engagement and driving positive action across our communities.”

Stuart Dawks, CEO at PECT, said:

“PECT was delighted to partner with IEG as part of the FutureNow project. We want to make sustainable decisions as easy possible, and this workshop, part of a series we’re running with residents and organisations across the city, will inform what initiatives we focus on next as a city.”
