After completing Level 2, many learners go on to: T Level in Education and Childcare, Level 3 Apprenticeship in Early Years or Teaching Assistant Specialist training in areas such as SEND, safeguarding, or speech and language support.
Who is it for?
The Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry for the Early Years Practitioner (Diploma) prepares learners for roles in early years settings by developing their practical skills and theoretical understanding of child development, safeguarding, health and safety, supporting play and learning, and promoting children’s well-being.

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above, including English and Maths.
The course includes at least 250 hours of work placement and is assessed through workplace observations, assignments, and a portfolio of evidence.
You will need to purchase the Early Years polo shirts for practical workshops in college and to wear whilst completing work placement hours.
You will also need a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate with no grounds that you are professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement. The College manages applications for a DBS, and we will contact you with the forms and guidance you require to complete this before you are due to start your course.
Stationery such as pens, pencils, a writing pad and a folder will also be essential. Visits to relevant science organisations may be arranged throughout your course, and the total cost for entry fees and transport will need to be paid in advance.Start date: 01/09/2025
