Peterborough Regional College building stronger ties with Food Manufacturer
Managing Director Greg Hanrahan took the opportunity to go “back to the floor” at Bakkavor on the 7th March during Apprenticeship Week.
Bakkavor is the leading provider in the fast-growing UK Fresh Prepared Food (FPF) market and from September 2018 we will be delivering Apprenticeships in Food and Drink Maintenance Engineer in our purpose built Food and Drink Centre.
Greg was taken around Bakkavor by some of the Group’s current apprentices and during his visit learnt skills such as hand peeling and cutting water melons and mangos. Sadly for Greg, despite his best efforts he was not able to deliver the consistency and quality required!
Greg said “I had a fantastic day at Bakkavor and the opportunities within the food manufacturing industry are outstanding for apprentices to develop a career within operations, engineering, finance, food technology, procurement and supply”.
A Bakkavor spokesperson said “Apprenticeships are a great way to give young people the chance to gain real work experience and responsibility within a range of environments and at Bourne we are committed to playing an active role in nurturing top talent.”
If you would like to find out more about the range of Apprenticeships offered here at the College please call 01733 762121.
