Who is it for?
This qualification will increase learner knowledge and understanding of Technology Enabled Care and how a range of technology can be used to improve an individuals’ quality of life and help to support them to live independently.
In this fast-moving world, technology plays a huge part in daily life, and the care sector is no different. Technology enabled care (TEC) is playing an increasing role in health and social care, with over 1.7 million vulnerable people relying on TEC to support independence in their own homes.
This qualification gives learners an understanding of the positive impact technology can have on individuals and the improvements it can make to quality of life.
What is covered?
To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Technology Enabled Care, learners are required to successfully complete 4 units:
- Unit 01 Introduction to technology enabled care that can be used to help support an individual’s quality of life
- Unit 02 Understanding a person-centred approach to technology enabled care that can support independence, health and well-being
- Unit 03 Understanding roles and responsibilities in relation to technology enabled care
- Unit 04 Introduction to legislation, safeguarding and regulatory requirements relating to technology enabled care
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
You need to be aged 19 or over at the start of the current academic year to be able to enrol on one of our Distance Learning courses.
You will also need to be working at or above Level 1 in English.
We will assess your level of English before we enrol you onto the course and can signpost you to our Functional Skills English courses to upskill if necessary.
You can apply for a Distance Learning course at any time.
Once you have completed the online initial assessment, the Distance Learning team will enrol you onto our learning platform and you will be able to start straight away.
In order to meet the deadlines for each assessment, you should plan to spend at least 4-6 hours a week studying on your course.
Distance Learning courses can be studied from home, work, or any location you wish. They are designed for independent study, and you do not have to attend any sessions. However, your assigned assessors and the Distance Learning team will provide you with support and guidance throughout your course.
To ensure that you keep on track and meet your deadlines, it is suggested that you undertake at least 4-6 hours study per week. You will complete online assessments at regular intervals and the due dates for submission of your work are shown on the platform.
Your allocated assessor will mark your assessments and provide you with feedback and support. It is important that you demonstrate to your assessor that you have understood the question and applied your knowledge to the answers.
If your assessor feels you need to add more detail, they will support you with feedback and you will be able to add to your original answer and resubmit your work.
