Many careers and universities require GCSE maths or Level 2 functional skills to be the required level to progress. This can lead to greater career opportunities within your current employment or acceptance onto a university course giving you a new pathway to follow.

Who is it for?
Our digital provision is for those aged 19+ who would like to study Functional skills mathematics with an online and flexible teaching model.
Thi course includes Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2.
The sessions are all recorded and posted online for easy access and work posted online to complete at your convenience.
Deadlines for work must be met on a weekly basis.
What is covered?
You will study a range of topics including: Number skills, Probability, Shape and measures, Ratios, Fractions, Decimals and percentages, Graphs and Charts.

There are no minimum entry requirements for the course as you will be assessed and put on an appropriate level.
If you have already achieved a functional skills qualification you will automatically progress to the level above.
You will be sent 2 initial assessments to complete online as well as a diagnostic assessment to find your current level of working before the start of the course.
On week 8 of the course you will have to sit an exam paper. There are 2 sections: a calculator and non–calculator.
Exams will require attendance at the college.
The course is free for anyone aged 19 years old or above at the start of the academic year without a GCSE A*–C or 9–4 in English. You must also meet the eligibility criteria regarding catchment area and duration of stay in the UK.
- Entry into a paper based exam is dependent on performance in the first two weeks, if successful an exam will be booked with your consent.
- Minimum attendance/work completion for the course is 85%. You must complete all of the work set, each week, by the set date.
- You will need to spend 4 to 5 hours studying every week.
