This course is for learners progressing from Level 1.

The Hospitality Services Level 2 course is ideal for those students looking to learn food preparation, cooking and restaurant service all within one qualification.
It is also suitable for students looking for a one year course or who have gained either a Level 1 in Food Preparation and Cooking and/or a Food and Beverage Service qualification. This is a Level 2 City & Guilds NVQ Diploma course and you will be required to complete your portfolio for assessment.
What is covered?
Alongside your course at the Air and Defence Career College you'll be involved with enrichment activities ranging from expert guest speakers from our industry partners, to existing visits to RAF bases and industry workplaces, along with residential visits and adventure training.
- 30-hours of work-related activity linked closely to the Defence industry
- Participate in activities around Science, Technology, English and Maths (STEM) led by The Royal Society of Engineers
- Participate in general and trade RAF station visits
- Participate in a week-long residential visit developed by the RAF
- Participate in outdoor and adventurous activities, including high/low ropes activities; climbing and canoeing
For the Hospitality & Catering part of the course you will cover:
- Preparation and cooking of meat dishes, poultry dishes and vegetarian dishes
- Take part in the service of food for the restaurant
- Develop restaurant service and bar service skills.
During the course you'll attend college 5 days per week. With 3 days within Hosptiality and Catering and 2 days dedicated to the Air and Defence College.

Successful achievement of Level 1 Hospitality Services Diploma or equivalent. NVQ L1 Certificate in Food Preparation and NVQ L1 Food and Beverage or equivalent.
Through observation whilst working in our realistic working environments and logbook completion. Air and Defence College assessment will follow BRTC (basic recruit training course) attitude goal requirements at Grade A throughout your study.
In addition you will prepare and sit the Airman Selection Test (AST) for entry in to the RAF should you wish to do so. You will also participate in the Industrial Cadet Award written assignment, presentations and practical tasks, alongside other personal development focused projects.
You will need to purchase a uniform (approximately £300). Information on this will be provided at your interview.
And an additional £85 for Air & Defence.
All study resources are available on the college module to support with assignments and practical assessments.
