Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 ( September Start)

The course runs from September – June and is delivered in each academic year. Learners are required to attend college for an initial induction to the course and 3 half day mandatory workshops; all other training will be delivered in the workplace.
Who is it for
This qualification will enable the learner to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in schools.
It is suitable for learners working in roles that support pupils' learning within a classroom environment, including teaching assistants, learning support assistants, special needs assistants and those in similar roles at Level 3.
Interview Skills Assessment
An informal interview is required with the tutor before joining the course. You will also be required to undertake a numeracy and literacy screener.
What will I need
• You will have to attend an informal interview (dates on request) and have agreement from your employer to support your studies. You will also need to have a mentor to support you within your school.
• You will ideally have a level 2 or GCSE grade C in English & maths.
• You may need to attend screening for numeracy and literacy to assess your level.
• You ideally are employed in a school setting and work for a minimum of 10 hours per week in a substantial role.

• Supporting literacy & numeracy development
How is the course assessed
You will need to complete a portfolio of evidence for the selected units based on observation in the workplace, tasks you have undertaken, answers to questions associated with these units and an assignment.
A portfolio of evidence will be completed and verified by your allocated assessor. This will include written assignments, direct observations, professional discussions and reflective accounts. There will be no final examination.

A Foundation Degree in Early Years, Playwork and Education.
