Who is it for

This course is aimed at mature learners who have industrial experience in an engineering related discipline and currently holds a Level 3 qualification, who wish to fast track to a Higher National Certificate in Engineering at Peterborough Regional College. The course includes the following level 3 units: Maths for Engineers, Mechanical Principles and Electrical/ Electronic Principles where each of the units must be completed with Distinction. This course reflects modern practices and provides a solid introduction into major areas of electrical and mechanical engineering.

Interview Skills Assessment

A brief interview (telephone or face to face) is required with the course tutor to determine the suitability of the course.

What will I need

The entry requirements are Level 3 qualifications in engineering / science although different qualifications / experience will be considered at the tutor's discretion. GCSE grade C in maths is also required and preferably in English and science.

What is covered

The units are based on EDECXEL BTEC Engineering Level 3 Units 

• Maths for technicians
• Electrical and electronic principles
• Mechanical principles and applications

Students must obtain a distinction grade in the units above in order to progress onto Higher Education at University Centre Peterborough.

How is the course assessed

Assessment is by assignments externally verified by EDEXCEL to national standards.
