Who is it for
This course is for students aged 16–24 with an Education, Health, and Care Plan who want to find paid work but may need extra support to do so. Students on a supported internship will spend the majority of their week at a workplace. They will be supported by a job coach both in and outside of the workplace.
What will I need
You will need to be motivated towards finding a paid job. You will need a positive attitude and be willing to try new things.
What is covered
All students on a supported internship receive a personalised timetable.
Job coaches will work with each student and create a vocational profile for them. This gives us lots of information about you and helps us to find you a job that you will enjoy.
Students will spend 2–3 days each week based at an employer. They will be supported 1:1 by a job coach full–time until they feel confident to work more independently.
Students will also still attend college 1–2 days per week. College time will be spent upskilling English and Maths, a work skills tutorial, and any other lessons which may be relevant to your job.
We can also provide additional support such as travel training, benefits and financial advice, and referrals to other services.
What can this course lead to
Our main goal is to help you to gain paid employment. We will also help you to create and build on your CV, practice interview skills, and increase your independence.
Are there any additional costs
There may be additional costs related to travel to and from your workplace. You may also be required to purchase a uniform.
