Who is it for
This advanced course is ideal if you are considering a career in tourism management or senior roles in the travel industry. The course covers topics such as handling air passengers, marketing, holiday representatives and customer service. The course also has practical elements and work experience components which makes this an excellent qualifi cation, preparing you not just for university
or higher study, but also real careers in the travel and tourism sector.
Interview Skills Assessment
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event – details will be provided upon application.
What will I need
4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English and maths or Level 2 Travel and Tourism qualifi cation at Merit including a minimum of Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Level 1 in Maths
What is covered
You will study modules including:
• Tourist destinations
• Handling air passengers
• Travel and tourism residential study visit
• Tour operations
• Cruise operations
• Conference and events management
The course includes a period of work experience in a travel and tourism placement in year 1 along with an overnight residential and visit to a major UK travel and
tourism organisation for training. In year 2 you will have the opportunity to plan and participate in an overseas visit.
How is the course assessed
Through assignment work, presentations and practical activities.
What can this course lead to
On successful completion of the course and meeting elements of your study
programme and achieving Merit and Distinction grades, you will be able to
progress onto the 2nd year of the course to develop learning further.
Once you have successfully completed the 2nd year you can go on to study
for a HND/degree or related courses in hospitality, travel and tourism or
work as a travel consultant, resort rep, member of a cabin crew, business travel
consultant or hotel supervisor.
Are there any additional costs
During the course, trips will take place. There will be an additional cost of a short residential visit in year 1 and an overseas residential in year 2 which are part of your qualification. Costs will be advised at interview and to be paid on enrolment.
