This advanced, practical programme offers you an excellent start in your career in photography, media or creative arts.
Interview Skills Assessment
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application.
What will I need
4 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above and must include English or maths. A portfolio of photographic/art work will need to be brought to the interview.
What is covered
Through the course you cover a number of interesting topics such as digital photography, image manipulation with computers and studio work.
The course includes:
• How to use the dark room
• Develop conventional photographic techniques
• Digital photography
• Application and manipulation
• Studio work
• Development of a strong portfolio of work covering different types of photography
How is the course assessed
You will be assessed by coursework assignments.
Where will the course take place
Media and Journalism Centre, 50 Broadway.
What can this course be combined with
You will be enrolled on a study programme that includes various aspects of study that complement your main programme of study. You could re–take GCSE English and Maths or study a functional skill. You could undertake a Trinity Arts Award or work on cross–college arts projects.
What can this course lead to
You could start a career as a freelance photographer, staff photographer with a magazine/ newspaper, designer or graphic/digital artist. Due to the academic nature of the course and the strong portfolio you will develop, you can also use this course to apply for a number of degree/HND courses in subjects such as art, photography, media, journalism, etc.

Paper, fi lm and dark room chemicals will be provided for students. There may be costs associated with fi eld trips.
