Who is it for
This course is ideal if you are interested in careers in business and commerce such as, office administration, marketing or human resources. Alternatively, if you are already working on a part–time basis and you would like to develop qualifi cations to
progress in your career then this is the ideal study programme for you.
Interview Skills Assessment
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event – details will be provided upon application. If you have other qualifications and/or relevant experience you will be fully considered and may still be able to study for the course.
What will I need
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including English and maths, or Level 1 Business at Merit and minimum of Functional Skills Level 1 or GCSE English and maths at grade D/3.
What is covered
This qualification looks at business in a consumer society and focuses on how business organisations operate, the key concepts and principles related to success in the world of business and the skills needed to work in business. The course covers topics in:
•Enterprise in the business world
•Promoting a brand
•Principles of customer service
•Recruitment, selection and employment
•Principles of marketing
•Introducing law and consumer rights
•Finance for business
How is the course assessed
Modules are assessed by either written assignments, project work or by online exams. All exams are taken at the college.
What can this course be combined with
The course combines well with functional skills in application of number, communication and IT.
What can this course lead to
Upon achieving an overall Merit and achieving GCSE English and maths at grade C/4, you may choose to move on to Business Level 3.
Alternatively, you may like to use the skills and knowledge from this course
to start a business/retail/accountancy apprenticeship or start your business
career at a junior level, for example, in an office environment.
