Who is it for
If you are interested in a career within the hairdressing industry or passionate and creative about hair then the Level 3 Hairdressing qualifi cation could be for you! This one year course is a progression on from the Level 2 Hairdressing qualification. The course will enable you to gain more knowledge and understanding of hairdressing and learn a wide variety of creative techniques.
You will develop your confi dence and understanding of the hairdressing industry which will ensure you are ready to work as a senior stylist.
Interview Skills Assessment
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application.
What will I need
You will need to have achieved the Level 2 VRQ Hairdressing with 90%
attendance, good communication skills and be confident around people. A
reference and successful completion of a skills test will be needed.
What is covered
There are two routes available: Route 1 – Colour Correction Route 2 – Scalp Massage, Reception and Bridal hair.
In both routes the course consists of the following units:
• Monitor and maintain health and safety practices
• Promote additional products or services to clients
• Provide consultation services
• Cut women's hair using a combination of techniques
• Colour hair using a variety of techniques
• Creatively style and dress hair
• Creative hairdressing design skills
• Promote the sales of stock in a salon
• Scalp massage
• Reception skills
How is the course assessed
Practical assessments take place on fee paying clients in Revive salons and you will have the opportunity to use an extensive range of products. You will be expected to demonstrate your competence in all units to the standards required in industry.

All candidates will follow a functional skills/GCSE programme in English and/or Maths and complete a minimum of 30 hours work experience.
What can this course lead to
On completion of this programme students may progress into teaching/assessing. This qualifi cation can lead to employment in salons, health farms, cruise liners and TV work.
Are there any additional costs
The skills you learn will need to be practised outside college in order to progress. As part of the study programme you will be required to complete work experience and take part in competitions. You will need to purchase a uniform and two mannequins (approximately £100). Details of these will be given at interview.
