Who is it for
This specialised music technology course develops your music technology skills in order to follow a route that could lead to a career in the music industry or study at a higher level. You will be a person who is prepared to work long and unsociable hours and strive to succeed.
Interview Skills Assessment
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application. You will also need to attend an audition before starting this course.
What will I need
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above or a level 1 Diploma. You must also have
achieved grade D/3 in English and/or maths.
What is covered
The course includes:
• Working in the music industry
• Music sequencing and production
• Using DJ skills
• Sound production and recording
• Music production and remixing techniques
How is the course assessed
Through practical work, presentation (written and performance) and continuous assessment throughout the year.
What can this course lead to
The course prepares you for employment within the music industry and also provides an excellent grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as our Level 3 in Music Performance or Music Technology (you will need to pass the level 2 course in order to progress onto the level 3).
Are there any additional costs
Textbooks and black clothing will be necessary, plus any field trip costs (if applicable). You will also need to provide your own headphones with ¼” Jack adaptors. You will need to be available for evening rehearsals and performances.
