Who is it for

This course is ideal if you would like to work as a stylist in a salon. You will learn skills tailored to the hairdressing industry and students who have completed level 1 Hairdressing can progress onto this course.

Interview Skills Assessment

You will be required to attend a welcome event, details will be provided upon application.

What will I need

You will have successfully completed a Level 1 in Hairdressing, have good attendance, a college reference and successful interview. Each student will be assessed on experience, suitability and have a genuine interest in the hairdressing industry.

What is covered

The course consists of the following units:
• Health & Safety
• Consultation
• Shampoo & Condition
• Promote products and services
• Cut women's hair
• Colour and lighten hair
• Art of dressing hair
• Reception
As part of the study programme you will be required to complete work experience and competition activity.

How is the course assessed

You will be assessed through practical observations; these are graded pass, merit or distinction. There will also be written/online tests, oral questions and assignments.

What can this course lead to

On completion of this programme students may progress onto an apprenticeship, Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing or the Technical Certificate in Hairdressing Level 2.

Are there any additional costs

You will be required to purchase a hairdressing kit, uniform and mannequins
(approximately £200 in total).
