Who is it for

This course is an ideal introduction for learners considering a career in the uniformed services such as Police, Armed Forces, Prison Service, Fire and Rescue or Paramedic.

You will be introduced to the practical skills and knowledge needed to enter in public services, such as fi tness, team working, map–reading and participation in adventurous outdoor activities.

Interview Skills Assessment

You will be required to attend a Welcome Event – details will be provided upon application.

What will I need

You will need Level 1 or GSCE grade F/1 in English or maths, an interest in
the subject area and a willingness to work hard. If you are an ESOL learner
you must have completed and passed Entry 3 ESOL.

• Developing self–discipline for the uniformed services

The course is assessed through written assignments and practical activities.

This course is a fantastic introduction to careers in the public/uniformed services.
On successful completion of this course and the achievement of Functional Skills
English and maths you can progress on to the Entry to Uniformed Services Level
2 course.

Are there any additional costs

You will need warm, waterproof clothes and tough boots for land navigation.
There may also be costs for uniform and residential visits (both locally and nationally), approximately £250.
